For years, critically ill patients who required complex medical care had nowhere to go. They were caught in the never-ending cycle between regular acute care hospitals where their stay was limited or nursing homes which did not provide the critical care needed for their specific disease or illness. Acuity Specialty Hospital Ohio Valley provides that continuum of care. We are a fully licensed acute care hospital and not a skilled nursing facility.

 

Our team focuses on the medically complex patient and provides specialty programs to meet their individual needs. We provide programs for conditions ranging from ventilator dependent respiratory failure, chronic pulmonary problems, cardiovascular disease, complex and severe wounds, to conditions requiring continued life support, multiple system failure, infections requiring long term antibiotic therapy, and nutritional impairment.

 

Acuity Specialty Hospital is proud to offer these services to the residents of the Ohio Valley and the surrounding area. We have the distinction of being the valley's first long-term acute care hospital (LTACH), and are Joint Commission accreditated. In order to better serve the needs of our patients, we offer two campuses - Acuity Specialty Hospital Ohio Valley at Steubenville and at Belmont.

 

Our Steubenville Hospital is located on the 3rd floor of the Trinity Health Systems East Campus, and our Belmont Hospital is located on the 2nd floor of the Belmont Community Hospital in Bellaire, Ohio.   We have a combined service of 72 beds.

 

Our goal is to return each patient to their highest level of function and well-being.
